“I am remarkably fortunate and honored to participate in a process that helps people become their best selves. It is vital that people feel heard and believe that what they do with their lives matters. I am a trusted guide who provides a reference point to revitalize passions and discover our best nature. I find my passion and purpose accompanying individuals on this journey.”

— DR. CYNTHIA CALVIN

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”

— BRENÉ BROWN

Professional Approach

Since 1983 Cynthia has focused on the obstacles and solutions to optimal growth in personal and professional settings. The hallmark of Cynthia’s approach is to provide an environment that encourages curiosity, self-reflection and perspective building. For meaningful and lasting change to occur, the client must engage in a candid dialogue with Cynthia, who will join in the process with compassion, insight and practical feedback. The client relationship with the therapist/coach is an essential tool of the change process, and requires the willingness to be vulnerable and honest.

Early Work

Cynthia’s early work was informed by teaching Personality Assessment at the doctoral level and supervision of graduate students at the University of Denver Psy. D. Program. In the 30 years of practice, she has been an avid student of neuroscience, the beneficial effects of meditation, and studies in how people recover and change from traumatic events and long embedded habits of minds. Over many years of practice, Cynthia has adjusted and modified approaches to suit each individual client and organization.

Cynthia has been an Expert Witness in the Colorado State Court system in Domestic Law and Custody cases.  Prior to receiving her doctorate Cynthia worked as an investigator in the Public Defender’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office. She spent several years teaching in The Veterans Upward Bound Program at Metro State College in Denver to assist Vietnam Veterans in their transition back to civilian life. She wrote the text for the course that focused on the political, economic and social/cultural issues facing this group in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

Women’s Development

Cynthia was a Board Member of Colorado Women’s Psychologists. She has specialized in women’s development and empowerment personally and professionally. As a Psychologist and Executive Coach, Cynthia encourages women to identify their strengths, see their vulnerabilities as an opening for self-discovery and to build greater understanding of their impact. In a world in which “being perfect” is often a “bar” that must be met through competition, women often are their own biggest critics. This is a common breeding ground for “imposter syndrome.”

Executive Coaching

As an Executive Coach, Cynthia’s clientele has a global footprint and crosses a multitude of industries, cultures and generations. Cynthia primarily works with executive teams and individuals in C-Suite positions in both the public and private sectors. Learn more about Executive Coaching.
